Beermen’s third period surge overwhelms Dyip
The San Miguel Beermen came alive in the third period and never looked back, defeating Columbian Dyip at 143-119 in the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum on Friday.
San Miguel made 23 three-pointers throughout the game compared to Columbian’s 7.
Down by just two points in the first half, the Beermen started to get hot from the triple to break away from the Dyip squad. San Miguel would also fuel a 19-2 rally led by Arizona Reid and Christian Standhardinger to end the third period, 107-84.
Fourth quarter would prove to be the same, as San Miguel claim the win in the process despite the late effort of Columbian’s Jackson Corpuz.
Arwind Santos powered San Miguel with 29 points on seven triples, to go along with five rebounds four blocks.
The Gilas Pilipinas trio of Standhardinger, Alex Cabagnot, and Marcio Lassiter scored a combined 61 points. AZ Reid flirted with a quadruple double, tallying 16 markers, 17 rebounds, 11 assists, and six steals.
On the other hand, Jackson Corpuz led Columbian with 28 points. Akeem Wright and Jerramy King had 22 points apiece while Rashawn McCarthy chalked up 18.
San Miguel improved their record with 2-1 while Columbian remains winless in their six outings.
