Chot Reyes explains decision on Gilas Pilipinas roster
Pinoy basketball fans are asking why some PBA stars did not make it to the Gilas Pilipinas roster. But as much as Coach Chot Reyes opts for some changes, he banks on familiarity and chemoistry.
The next match of the Philippine national team in the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifiers is just around the corner.
That’s why, a netizen tapped in the Gilas coach, asking if the national team can add in some players on its pool, just like what Japan and Chinese Taipei did for their lineup.
Some suggested names including PBA cagers Marcio Lassiter, JP Erram, Vic Manuel, Greg Slaughter, Paul Lee, or even Scottie Thompson.
But for Reyes, it’s merely impossible.
According to the Gilas coach, there’s not enough time to assimilate new guys as the Gilas team practices will begin this June 25, unlike Japan’s and Chinese-Taipei who already started their training two weeks ago.
Yung Japan at Chinese-Taipei 2 weeks ago pa nagpa-practice at last week nag tune-up sa Korea, tayo June 25 pa lang ang daily practice for June 29 game. Not enough time to assimilate new guys https://t.co/mfbHLHmIMi
