Popovich: US is a ‘racist country’
San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich said that the NBA needs to celebrate Black History Month because he lives in a “racist country.”
“The league is made up of a lot of black guys. To honor that and understand it is pretty simplistic. We live in a racist country that hasn’t figured it out yet,” Popovich said according to Bleacher Report.

According to NBA.com, there have been sightings of NBA players using warmup shirts with words that “reflect NBA player’s longstanding commitment to equality and diversity.”
Different teams are holding events in support of the African-American community.
