16 teams to join Ginebra 3×3 national finals

MANILA – A total of 16 teams will compete in the Ginebra 3×3 Tapang ng Tatluhan National Finals on July 5 at the Robinsons Place Manila.

The teams will represent Manila, Caloocan, Quezon, Cebu, Davao, Bulacan, Iloilo, Cagayan de Oro, Tarlac, Cavite, Batangas, Bataan, Pangasinan, Pampanga, Rizal and Samar.

The final two teams will advance to the championship round on July 7 at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Barangay Ginebra legend Robert Jaworski Sr. will award the championship trophy and the PHP250,000 cash prize to the winner.

There will also be a slam-dunk competition and 3-point shoot-out during the national finals with the best dunker and top scorer earning PHP10,000 in cash and a trophy.

The Ginebra 3×3 Tapang ng Tatluhan is the first of its kind countrywide grassroots basketball program initiated by Ginebra San Miguel and the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) to look for potential cagers.

Now on its fourth year, the tournament is important as the 3×3 basketball event has been included in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

With the bigger prize money at stake, Ginebra San Miguel hopes to attract more participants and give young players the chance to develop their skills.

To celebrate 40 years of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, a meet-and-greet with players Stanley Pringle, LA Tenorio, and Mark Caguioa will be held at the exhibit area, which features the various jerseys of the popular basketball franchise.
