MPBL: Ayo to debut as Muntinlupa coach on Thursday

University of Santo Tomas head coach Aldin Ayo accepted the position as the head coach of Muntinlupa Cages in the ongoing 2018 MPBL Datu Cup, right after he asked the approval of UST’s administration.

“Before I committed to Muntinlupa, I asked permission from managers especially kay Fr. Jannel [Abogado], alam naman nila na kaya ng schedule ko,” said Ayo after losing 71-77 in UST’s matchup against Adamson, Saturday.

“I’m used to this naman e, nasa Sorsogon ako nagta-trabaho ako twelve to fourteen hours, ngayon mga ten hours lang e. Okay lang din basta basketball,” he added.

Muntilupa Cagers, which are playing in the southern division, are still undefeated in the league,

Ayo will be reunited with his former Letran players Felix Apreku and Kevin Buenaflor.

Then, he could face his current assistant Randy Alcantara, who coaches the San Juan Knights.

“Actually pinaguusapan din namin pero very professional naman,” said Ayo.

“If it happens, for sure, we’re gonna bring out the best sa bawat isa sa amin.”

Ayo will debut on Thursday, September 27, against the Basilan Steel.
