6-foot-6 wing Logan Baltazar leaves Ateneo to explore other UAAP options

LOGAN Baltazar has left Ateneo de Manila University as he looks to pursue other opportunities in the UAAP, an informant told Fastbreak columnist Homer Sayson.

Baltazar’s departure comes shortly after Kyle Gamber decided to sit out UAAP Season 89, making the 20-year-old Filipino-American wing the second notable player to move away from the Blue Eagles under interim head coach Louie Alas.

The 6-foot-6 Baltazar had committed to Ateneo after playing two seasons of college basketball in the United States and was initially set to spend his residency year with the Blue Eagles before becoming eligible for the UAAP.

Baltazar began his collegiate career at Whittier College in Los Angeles before transferring to Cañada College. During the 2024-25 season, he averaged 10 points, five rebounds and 1.3 assists per game while shooting 42 percent from the field.

His performances eventually drew the attention of former Ateneo head coach Tab Baldwin, who recruited him to the Blue Eagles.

Baltazar had previously turned down an opportunity to play for Adamson University after high school and instead pursued his college career in the United States.

With his Ateneo stint now in question, Baltazar is expected to explore his options elsewhere in the UAAP as he looks for the next step in his collegiate career. (By the Staff)
