De La Salle University Green Archers has left 6-foot-8 center Dominic Sarmiento out of its Team A lineup for the upcoming UAAP Season 89 men’s basketball tournament.
An informant told Fastbreak columnist Homer Sayson that Sarmiento’s status and next move remain unclear as the UAAP season approaches.
The Filipino-American big man had joined the Green Archers after playing two collegiate seasons in California and was expected to provide additional size to La Salle’s frontcourt.
Sarmiento spent his freshman season with Irvine Valley College, where he played 15 games during the 2023-24 campaign and averaged one point and one rebound in 5.5 minutes per game. He started three of those contests.
He later competed in the Orange Empire Conference of the California Community College Athletic Association before committing to La Salle.
Sarmiento also saw action for DLSU in the UCAL Invitational and FilOil competitions and was part of the Green Archers’ UAAP championship campaign.
Sarmiento, who already served a one-year residency, was initially viewed as part of La Salle’s deep recruiting class that also included Mason Amos, Jacob Cortez and Luis Pablo. (By the Staff)
