Estil of the Draft? Ginebra selects Sonny Estil in first round

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings selected Sonny Estil as their first-round pick in the PBA Season 50 Rookie Draft on Sunday night at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall in Pasay City.

The former Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights standout, who was named MVP of the two-day Draft Combine, was taken 11th overall by the Gin Kings.

“Opo, kinakabahan po ako,” Estil said in a televised interview. “Thankful ako kay God na binigyan ako ng opportunity na makapaglaro sa PBA.”

“Ang macocontribute ko siguro sa Ginebra is ‘yung hustle sa depensa. ‘Yung opensa kapag ibibigay na lang sa akin,” he added.

Earlier in the first round, LJay Gonzales was picked fifth overall by the NLEX Road Warriors, followed by Yukien Andrada to the Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots, Jason Brickman to the Meralco Bolts, and Will Gozum to the Phoenix Fuel Masters.

Also chosen in the opening round were Christopher Miller to the San Miguel Beermen and Christian Manaytay and Arthur Roque to the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.
