THE parents of the late Divine Adili attended Ateneo de Manila University’s UAAP Season 89 men’s basketball opener on Wednesday as the league and the Blue Eagles paid tribute to Adili and Rene Baterbonia.
Elias and Ifeoma Adili watched the game against the University of the East at the SM Mall of Asia Arena alongside Ateneo president Fr. Bobby Yap, SJ.
The league also held a moment of silence in memory of Adili and Baterbonia, who died in a team-building incident in Dipaculao, Aurora, on June 8.
Ateneo previously expressed appreciation for the presence of Adili’s parents, saying their visit carried special meaning as the Blue Eagles dedicate the season to the two members of their community.
“As the team begins a season dedicated to the memory of Divine and Rene Baterbonia, we are grateful that Divine’s parents can be here with the teammates, friends, and community who shared an important part of his life.”
The Blue Eagles are wearing a “DA | RB” patch on their jerseys throughout the season as part of the tribute. (Adrian Co)
