Rain or Shine Elasto Painters got a timely lift from Adrian Nocum to pull off a 116-112 triumph against San Miguel Beermen in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup on Wednesday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
After seeing their once 25-point lead cut to as low as two points at 97-99, Nocum stepped up with consecutive three-pointers and inside hits to give the Painters some separation.
Despite this, the Beermen were still able to keep the match close via the outside shooting of Marcio Lassiter. They even had a chance to send the match into overtime but they misfired on consecutive four-point attempts.
Nocum finished with a conference-high of 21 points, including two triples, to go with five rebounds and two assists as the Painters remained on top of the standings with a perfect 5-0 record.
Jaylen Johnson led the Painters with 24 points, Jhonard Clarito added 16 markers, while Felix Pangilinan-Lemetti, Caelan Tiongson, and Gian Mamuyac contributed 14, 11, and 10, respectively.
Lassiter top-scored for the Beermen with 27 points, including seven triples, Jaymar Perez added 18 markers, while June Mar Fajardo, Celedonio Trollano, and Justin Patton tallied 17, 14, and 12. They fell to a 3-3 mark.
