Ailing Jia Morado leads way as Ateneo get first win over Perpetual
Playmaker Jia Morado played through a flu to help Ateneo Lady Eagles score their first win in the V-League Collegiate Conference at the expense of Perpetual Help, 27-25, 25-13, 25-16, to keep their quarterfinals hope alive, Monday.
Morado came of the bench and dished out three points and 25 excellent sets that saw the Lady Eagles struggled in the first set, 5-10, before tying the game at 11.
It was a see-saw battle towards the end of the first set before the Lady Eagles got back on track in the second and third frame and never looked back to remain in the hunt for the last two slots of the quarter finals with an improved record of 1-2.
Bea de Leon topscored for the Lady Eagles with 12 points while Ana Gopico added 11 markers.
Perpetual remained winless in the competition with a 0-3 win-loss slate.
Lourdes Clemente was limited to only eight points for the Lady Altas.
