Akari Power Chargers head coach Jorge Edson Souza de Brito commended his prized rookie Faith Nisperos despite being limited to just five points in her Premier Volleyball League debut.
According to the Brazilian tactician, Nisperos’ paltry debut performance in the Power Chargers’ 25-15, 25-19, 25-22 loss to the PLDT High Speed Hitters is just the beginning, and there’s still room for improvement for the Davoena volleybelle.
“You have to start at one point. You start from this level today and always aim higher. I’m confident this is just the beginning,” said Souza De Brito. “I’m quite certain she will become much better in all aspects. She didn’t play poorly. She played well, really, really well.”
Nisperos, for her part, said that her first game was a great learning experience for her as she quickly learned what areas she needed to improve.
“I’ve been working on naman on some of my skills, and I could say naman na dahan dahan na nailabas naman. I’m looking at it as a positive na I’ve seen what I need to improve on after this game,” Nisperos said.
“As an open hitter na inaasahan in all aspects, I could say na I have to improve on my defensive skills and, of course, my blocking as well,” added the 5-foot-11 volleybelle.
The Power Chargers will have a one-week break before resuming their PVL Invitational campaign against the Chery Tiggo Crossovers on July 11.
