Alab ‘Big 3’ instrumental in revenge win vs Macau
San Miguel Alab Pilipinas pull off a 101-96 comeback win over its former tormentor Macau Black Bears in the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) at the FilOil Flying V Centre on Friday.
Alab’s troika of Bobby Ray Parks, Renaldo Balkman and PJ Ramos showed up when they were needed the most to avenge the Philippine squad’s 103-116 defeat against Macau last February 27.
Ramos dropped 29 points and 13 rebounds to lead Alab in extending its league-leading record to 18-4.
Balkman chipped in 26 markers, 11 boards and 8 assists while Parks, a two-time Local MVP, added 22 points on top of 5 rebounds and 5 dimes.
With the loss, Macau fell to 12-10, tied at 4th place with Saigon Heat.
From a 62-72 hole, Alab leaned on Parks, who sparked a quarter-ending 16-4 run to gain a slight 78-76 edge after 3 quarters.
The behemoth Ramos then muscled his way down low in the final canto to create put up a 7-point Alab lead, 87-80, with 6:36 left.
Macau, however, slowly climbed back within 4, 91-95, with 2:45 left to play.
But Ramos fought back and sealed game with a bucket in the last 1:49 to stretch the lead to 99-91.
