Alaska routs All-Filipino champ Magnolia in Commissioner’s Cup debut
Alaska spoiled Magnolia’s PBA Commissioner’s Cup debut with a 103-80 manhandling on Wednesday evening at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum, giving returning big man Vic Manuel a warm welcome after beating an injury.
Aces import Chris Daniels scored 23 points and spearheaded Alaska’s hot shooting from the outside, hitting 4 of the Aces’ 14 three-pointers.
The Aces picked up their second straight victory to improve to 3-2.
JVee Casio scored 17 points behind a 3-of-5 shooting clip from beyond the three-point line while Jeron Teng added 12 points and once again grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds for the Aces, who led by as many as 28 points in the contest.
Ian Sangalang hit 17 points and 9 rebounds, while Mark Barroca had 15 points.
Magnolia import John Fields had 12 points in his return to the league after a stint with Columbian Dyip.
