Alaska survives second do-or-die game vs ROS, extends series to Game 6
Championship balloons will remain hanging atop the Big Dome as the Alaska Aces once again escaped past Rain or Shine Elasto Painters to keep their bid alive in the Commissioner’s Cup finals.
After trailing at the first half with three points, the Aces created distance to Rain or Shine with sheer dominance en route to their 86-78 victory.
The Beast made a monstrous impact to Alaska with a double-double performance and relentless hustle. Calvin Abueva finished the game with 20 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks.
Alaska made a 15-5 run in the third quarter to finally take the lead. After this sequence, the Aces appeared to be more composed and in control of the game even when Paul Lee buried a trey for a deadlock with 69-all.
Abueva drained 10 points in the fourth quarter to bolster Alaska’s chances of securing Game 5.
Four other Aces performed with double figures. Rob Dozier had 14 points, RJ Jazul with 13, Dondon Hontiveros with 12 and Cyrus Baguio with 11.
