FILIPINA tennis star Alexandra Eala made her first appearance at New York Fashion Week, attending the Tory Burch Spring/Summer 2027 presentation as a front-row guest.
Eala joined a high-profile group of guests at the September 10 runway show in New York City, where she was seated alongside Hollywood personalities Amanda Seyfried and Lauryn Hill.
The appearance marked a different kind of spotlight for Eala, who has been making headlines primarily for her performances on the international tennis circuit.
In an interview with Marvièn, Eala admitted she was excited but slightly nervous about attending her first fashion week event.
“I’m so excited. I’m a little nervous. There’s some amazing people in this room, so I’m so happy to be a part of it. You know, my mom growing up really had a lot of Tory Burch shoes, so I have to say the shoes,” she said.
Eala also drew a connection between tennis and fashion, saying both allow people to express their individuality.
“Sports and fashion are common in a way where you get to express yourself and you get to show your personality,” she said.
She acknowledged, however, that fashion was unfamiliar territory compared with the tennis court.
“Sports is very physically demanding and fashion, maybe come back to me after this week and I’ll know more about it. This is my first fashion week,” Eala added.
Her New York Fashion Week appearance comes amid growing interest in her fashion style. Eala previously attracted the attention of former American Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, further highlighting her increasing presence beyond tennis.
