Alex Eala’s “Nike Sampaguita” merch receives strong support in Singapore

ALEXANDRA Eala said she was overwhelmed by the strong response to her Nike Sampaguita collaboration after the collection quickly sold out at the brand’s store along Orchard Road in Singapore.

Speaking in a press interview with Bilyonaryo News Channel’s Agenda anchor Erika Kristensen-Lee, the Filipino tennis star reflected on the support she received from fans.

“Wow, wow is how I feel, I guess. It’s just so surreal to see the support and to see how, you know, the power of representation and I think how much people align with my journey,” Eala said.

The 21-year-old added that the response to the Sampaguita collection showed how people connected with the story behind the collaboration.

“And I guess the whole story behind the Sampaguita line and I’m just—it fills me with joy to know that, you know, people can relate to this and they, you know, they connect with it,” she said.

Photos showing a long line of customers outside the Nike store in Singapore circulated as the collaboration drew strong interest.

For Eala, the reception went beyond the commercial success of the collection, with the Filipina saying she was happy to see people identify with the message and story associated with the Sampaguita line. (Adrian Co)
