Alex explores New York City ahead of US Open

FILIPINA tennis star Alexandra Eala is making the most of her time in New York as she prepares for the 2026 US Open.

With the final Grand Slam of the season approaching, Eala gave fans a glimpse of her life away from the tennis court through a series of photos posted on Instagram.

The 21-year-old was seen exploring New York City, including a visit to the bustling Times Square, while also sharing relaxed moments during her free time.

In another post, Eala drew attention for wearing a pair of Islander-style flip-flops, pairing the distinctly Filipino footwear with a casual outfit during her stay in the city.

The posts offered a lighter look at Eala as she balances preparations for the US Open with some time away from competition.

Eala arrives in New York after another strong stretch on the WTA Tour. She won her first WTA 500 singles title at the Mubadala DC Open earlier this month, reached the Round of 16 at the Canadian Open and advanced to the third round of the Cincinnati Open.

Her Cincinnati run also helped propel her to a new career-high No. 18 in the latest WTA rankings.

Eala is set to be one of the seeded players in the US Open singles main draw. She will also compete in the mixed doubles tournament with Canadian star Felix Auger-Aliassime and take part in the Stars of the Open exhibition event before beginning her singles campaign.

The US Open holds special significance for Eala, who won the girls’ singles title in New York in 2022. She will now return to Flushing Meadows seeking another breakthrough on the Grand Slam stage. (Adrian Co)
