Alyssa Valdez has nothing but praise for her new Creamline Cool Smashers teammate, Bernadeth Pons.
According to Valdez, the energy and work ethic being shown by the former Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws star are rubbing off on Cool Smashers veterans like her.
“Sobrang professional kasi si Pons, makikita mo talaga na she’s the first person who will come in in practice to prepare for practice, siya ‘yung huling matatapos hanggang sa cool down,” Valdez said.
“She’s a great role model not just sa mga bata but to seniors as well. She brings a different energy sa team. It’s very nice to add something laging meron change. We welcome good change in our team,” she added.
The Talisay City, Negros Occidental-native Pons is making a return to indoor volleyball for the first time in four years after shifting her focus to beach volleyball along with Choco Mucho Flying Titans star Cherry Rondina.
Pons is still finding her indoor volleyball form, as she only managed a total of four points in the Cool Smashers’ first two games in the Premier Volleyball League Invitational conference.
“Sobrang grateful lang din ako sa trust ng coaches na ibinigay sa akin kasi sobrang struggle din ako pagbalik ko ng indoor kasi ‘yung transition from beach to indoor tapos ‘yung adjustment sa system ng Creamline,” said Pons.
“Winoworkout ko naman siya every day, and lagi naman akong ready kapag gagamitin ako ni coach,” added the Negrense volleybelle, who vowed to work double time to help the Cool Smashers’ title defense.
