Amer admits Almazan gave Meralco a huge boost
Baser Amer exploded for Meralco on Friday night to steer the Bolts to a 101-75 drubbing of the Alaska Aces in the PBA Governor’s Cup.
Averaging just 11.0 points in the Bolts’ first two games, the fourth-year guard out of San Beda shot 6 three-pointers en route to 27 points.
But Amer did not take all the spotlight to himself as he tipped his hat to Raymond Almazan.
Almazan’s impact for Meralco was strongly felt in the win over Alaska as the 6-foot-8 forward produced 15 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks.
“Sobrang laking factor na dagdag si Raymond sa’min,” AMer said.
“He can score, depensa. Tsaka yun rebound, yun wala samin talaga. Since dumating siya, ang laking bagay, ang laking tulong sa’min,” he said.
The Bolts have improved to 2-1 following the dominant victory. And for Amer, he hopes that he and the Bolts could keep this going as their primary goal is to make it back to the playoffs.
Meralco never made it past the elimination round in this season’s first two conferences.
