Anthony Edwards, LaMelo Ball shoulder Wolves’ Paris team building expenses

ANTHONY Edwards and new Minnesota Timberwolves teammate LaMelo Ball are reportedly footing the bill for the team’s offseason trip to Paris.

Nearly the entire Timberwolves roster flew to France for workouts and team bonding as Minnesota prepares for a major change in its identity heading into the 2026-27 NBA season.

According to The Athletic, Edwards and Ball offered to pay for the entire team’s flight to Paris, where the Wolves have been working out together and strengthening their connection ahead of training camp.

The trip also gave Ball his first opportunity to get on the court with Rudy Gobert, with the veteran center helping make sure the team’s newest addition feel comfortable in his new surroundings.

The Paris gathering comes at an important time for Minnesota, which underwent significant changes during the offseason.

The Timberwolves traded Naz Reid to the Charlotte Hornets for Ball and sent Julius Randle to the Brooklyn Nets, signaling a shift away from their previous frontcourt-heavy style.

Minnesota is now expected to play a faster, more spaced-out brand of basketball built around ball movement and transition play.

With several longtime veterans also departing, Edwards is expected to take on an even bigger leadership role alongside Jaden McDaniels.

Coach Chris Finch has already challenged Edwards to take another step, emphasizing that his growing voice must now be matched by his everyday presence.

The Paris trip appears to be part of that effort.

Edwards has repeatedly stressed the importance of building team chemistry before the season, and this time, he and Ball took that commitment a step further by helping bring the entire group together overseas.

For a Timberwolves team trying to bounce back from a second-round playoff exit, the message is clear – the work toward a deeper postseason run has already started even before training camp officially opens.
