ATENEO de Manila University three-point specialist Kyle Gamber is reportedly set to sit out UAAP Season 89 men’s basketball tournament.
An informant told Abante Bilyonaryo Group’s Homer Sayson that the Fil-Am guard opted to be sidelined as he remains affected by the June tragedy in Aurora.
During that incident, Ateneo student-athletes Rene Clert “Bobet” Baterbonia and Divine Adili died of drowning following an off-campus team-building activity.
The development could be a significant blow to the Blue Eagles, with Gamber regarded as one of their key perimeter threats.
The 2026-27 UAAP season would mark Ateneo’s first campaign following the Aurora tragedy, which led to multiple investigations and significant changes within the Blue Eagles program. (Adrian Co)
