ARELLANO University (AU) Lady Chiefs survived a marathon five-set battle against the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Golden Tigresses, 25-21, 21-25, 31-33, 25-23, 15-13, in the V-League 2026 Collegiate Challenge women’s division on Saturday at Gameville Central Park.
The Lady Chiefs overcame a 1-2 deficit before holding their nerve in the deciding set to complete the comeback against the Golden Tigresses.
Crisanta Servidad spearheaded Arellano’s offense with 25 points, including 19 attacks and six blocks. She also contributed three digs in an all-around performance.
The Lady Chiefs took the opening set, but UST responded by winning the next two, including a marathon third set that went beyond the usual 25-point mark.
Arellano refused to fold, taking the fourth set, 25-23, to force a decider.
The final set remained tight until the closing points, with the Lady Chiefs eventually securing the 15-13 victory to escape with the five-set triumph.
The result gave Arellano its second win in as many matches, while UST dropped to a 1-1 win-loss card. (Adrian Co)
