Asi Taulava contemplates plans after retirement

After four lasting decades in the PBA, Asi Taulava is already considering retirement.

Still, the 47-year old veteran won’t be drifting away from basketball, as he plans to collaborate with NLEX head coach Yeng Guiao and NU tactician Pat Aquino to become part of the coaching staff.

Specifically, Taulava wants to be involved with the women’s basketball since his daughter, Asiana, is currently playing for UP Lady Maroons.

“I have a good coach ahead of me, I want to thank coach Paul for giving me the opportunity,” Taulava said. “I always ask for advice. I want to understand the women’s game of basketball a little bit more. It happened to him [Aquino], and he just learned from experience.”

Asi is currently serving as an assistant coach for the UP women’s basketball team, and he plans to take the coaching job as his full-time job.

“I love the game, and at the same time, I’ll be teaching. All this stuff I have in my head, I want to teach,”
