Atoy Co glad Mapua escape Benilde’s scare to complete Final Four cast

A hard-fought battle but the victory was still worth it.

Mapua needed to reassert their dominance in the end-game to survive a tough College of Saint Benilde, 69-59, and complete the Final Four cast of the ongoing NCAA tourney.

Mapua coach Atoy Co said he’s gald that they were able to get the win against the hapless Blazers who played harder than his boys.

“I’m happy but dumaan kami sa butas ng karayom ngayon,” said Co who banked on reigning NCAA MVP Allwell Oraeme’s monster-double.

Oraeme finished with 16 points and 19 boards while Joseph Eriobu added 13 markers.

The Cardinals improved their record to 11-5 and will advance to the next round with Arellano, San Beda and Perpetual Help.

Benilde, on the other hand, remained winless in 16 outings.
