‘Ayoko Makalaban UST’ Rhenz Abando explains why he chose Letran

Rhenz Abando has officially jump shipped from UAAP to NCAA.

And the 22-year old chose Colegio de San Juan de Letran as his new lair, since it is University of Santo Tomas’ sister school.. and he does not want to face his former school.

“Same Dominican school naman eh. Ayoko rin mag-UAAP kasi pag-UAAP tapos nakalaban ko UST, baka pag nag-chant ng ‘Go USTE’ baka bigla ko depensahan yung mga kakampi ko sa ibang school,” Abando joked

“Ayoko talaga makalaban UST!”

Indeed, the Thomasian community has accepted Abando with open arms in just his first season, and he also reciprocated the adoration that he received from the UAAP faithfuls as well.

The athletic swingman averaged 11.71 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks, making himself known as one of the rising stars in the collegiate ranks.

Together with fellow ex-UST teammates Brent Paraiso and Ira Bataller, Abando is looking forward to the different brand of competition in NCAA, since the league banned foreign student-athletes from participating in any events.

“Mas okay ako sa Letran kasi All-Filipino. Nakikita ko kasi sa NC talagang balyahan. Pure talent talaga dun. Laban lang,” he explained.

One thing is for sure, Abando will definitely give his all with the Knights, who are determined to defend their Season 95 crown.

“Mapropromise ko lang na gagawin ko ang lahat tulad ng sa UST. Kung kaya ko higitan, gagawin ko lahat ng makakaya ko hanggang dulo.”
