Balanced Blackwater attack rips off Columbian for 3-0 start
The Blackwater Elite is off to a pulsating start in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup after dispatching Columbian Dyip, 118-110, for their third consecutive win and the early leadership Sunday evening at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
Alex Stepheson, Ray Parks, and Mac Belo conspired for the Elite’s end-game push to finish off the Dyip, who came to within a solitary point, 105-106, with 3:50 left to play after going down by 13 early in the fourth.
Stepheson led Blackwater’s balanced attack with 26 points, on top of 21 rebounds and 7 blocks.
Parks finished with 23 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists while Belo tallied 19 points and 8 rebounds with 4 dimes.
Allein Maliksi fired 19 as well, as Roi Sumang chipped in 11 markers.
Kyle Barone had 21 points, 14 rebounds, and 5 assists to lead Columbian, who’s now off to a 0-3 start into the joust.
Rashawn McCarthy supplied 20 points and 6 assists, while CJ Perez made 17 points and 7 rebounds.
Blackwater will next play Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters on Friday, May 31, whole Columbian will face off against another skidding team in NLEX Road Warriors on Saturday, June 1. Both games are at SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
