Balanced scoring saves FEU from UP

The Far Eastern University Tamaraws scored their second win at the expense of the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, 89-73, in the UAAP Season 81 mens basketball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan City Sunday.

Down by 23 after three quarters, UP used a strong fourth quarter to outscore the Tamaraws but still faltered in the end game, 73-89.

“I guess we caught UP on an off night by limiting them to 70+ points,” said Tamaraws head coach Olsen Racela.

Prince Orizu paced FEu with 15 points and seven rebounds while Arvin Tolentino and Wendell Comboy combined for 25 markers.

Javi Gomez de Liano scored 15 points while Juan Gomez de Liano had 13 markers in a losing effort.

The Tamaraws improved to 2-1 while the Fighting Maroons fell to 1-2.

FEU’s next opponent will be the University of the East on Sunday, September 30, at the Mall of Asia Arena.
