Baldwin expects Ateneo-La Salle matchup to be “FUN”

It’s that time of the year again for Ateneo and La Salle.

However, UAAP fans don’t have to wait for a long time, as the defending two-time champs Blue Eagles will go head-to-head against the Green Archers in an early rivalry battle on Sunday, September 8 at the Araneta Coliseum.

While the Ateneo just came from a 70-52 victory against the Adamson on Wednesday, La Salle will try to make a statement in their Season 82 debut.

This is why Ateneo head coach Tab Baldwin is expecting an intense matchup this coming Sunday.

“We’ll have a big, big full stadium and you know La Salle’s got a big mission in front of them, it’s a stated mission, they want to make it back to the playoffs, and we will be their first game,” said Baldwin.

“They’ve seen us now, we haven’t seen them, that present some problems, but we have a game under our belt and they don’t, so that might present some problems for them,” he added.

As usual, Baldwin will count on his guys like Thirdy Ravena, Ange Kouame, Matt Nieto, and Isaac Go as they will face a revamped Archers featuring Aljun Melecio, Andrei Caracut, Justine Baltazar, and newcomer Jordan Bartlett.

Nonetheless, the American-Kiwi mentor is looking forward for their much-anticipated duel.

“It’ll be fun, we’ll be ready. I’m sure they will be ready,” Baldwin ended.
