Banchero credits Alaska defense for rousing playoff win vs TNT
Alaska’s Chris Banchero was mesmerized how the Aces defended TNT that led to stunning the twice-to-beat-armed KaTropa, which pushed their 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinal clash to sudden death.
“Our defense tonight was fantastic,” said Banchero, who had 14 points in their 102-76 rout of the Texters Sunday.
The gritty Alaska defense limited the LaTropa to a horrid 29-percent shooting from the field and force them to 15 turnovers.
Alaska also did a commendable job on defending TNT’s hulking import Terrence Jones who only managed to chalk up 19 points, farm from his 33.7-point average.
“Everybody who had a job on Terrence Jones did a great job. That was the plan, to stay in the gaps and make other players beat us,” Banchero said.
The Aces needed to duplicate their effort on Wednesday to overcome TNT and advance to the semis.
