Barangay Ginebra gets back on the winning track, defeats Phoenix
Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings roared back from 11-points down to beat Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters, 94-87, in the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup on Wednesday night at the Don Honorio Ventura State University Gym in Bacolor, Pampanga.
Down 80-69 early in the fourth period, the Kings went on a 14-1 scoring run behind Stanley Pringle, Christian Standhardinger and Aljon Mariano to seize an 83-81 lead with over five minutes left.
The Kings and the Fuel Masters traded baskets since then with the score tied for the last time at 87-all before Pringle surge Ginebra ahead 89-87 with under two minutes remaining.
Following missed baskets by the Fuel Masters, the Kings widened the lead to 92-87 with a three-pointer by LA Tenorio with a minute remaining in the match before Pringle sealed the win with another two-pointer.
Pringle finished the match with conference-high 31 points, Tenorio added 23 markers, while Standhardinger had double-double 21 points and 12 rebounds as the defending champions Kings snapped its two-game slide to improve to 4-5 slate.
Jason Perkins top-scored with 30 points and eight rebounds, while Matthew Wright and RJ Jazul contributed 18 and 15 markers, respectively, as the Fuel Masters dropped to 4-6.
