Barroca, Jalalon share spotlight as Magnolia conquer NorthPort

Big things come in small packages.

That is the case for Magnolia Hotshots as they nab their second win in the 2018 PBA Governors Cup against skidding NorthPort Batang Pier, 104-87, Saturday night at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Mark Andy Barroca provided the needed spark by contributing 20 points on 4-of-7 treys, and has also been a pesky defender for the opposing side with five steals.

Spitfire guard Jio Jalalon, on the other hand, didn’t score much points but was vital on orchestrating the offense for Hotshots as he listed 13 points and eight dimes coming off the bench.

Other Magnolia players who had a huge contribution in the win was their import Romeo Travis who despite having horrid shooting night, 6-of-25, was still able to score 15 points and 22 boards, while Rome dela Rosa came up big with 17 markers.

NorthPort looks like it is really feeling the absence of their star playmaker Stanley Pringle and do-it-all forward Sean Anthony as they now fall to 0-3 record.

Their import Rashad Woods tried to carry the scoring cudgels with 25 markers and six boards, while journeyman Paolo Taha grabbed five rebounds on top of 22 points.
