Basketball not yet over for Gaco

Five-time PBA champion Jerwin Gaco is not hanging his basketball jersey just yet.

He is back on the hardcourt as a reinforcement for the struggling Tanduay Rhum Masters in the ongoing PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup.

The 36-year-old power forward will join fellow ex-Ginebra player Dennice Villamor in beefing up the Rhum Masters lineup led by the Letran core of Mark Cruz, Jom Sollano and Bong Quinto.

Gaco is expected to score points in the paint for Tanduay, which suffered two consecutive losses going into the playoffs.

Under the D-League rules, participating teams are given the privilege to tap two former PBA players, but they cannot play simultaneously inside the court.

The fan-favorite Gaco became a free agent last season after his longtime team Star Hotshots dropped him of the roster.

He tried out for Globalport but failed to get signed before the start of the season. (Alex Cerado)
