Basketball phenom Prince Cariño receives NCAA Division I offer from University of Nevada

Gilas Pilipinas Youth standout Prince Cariño has received an offer to play for the University of Nevada, Reno opening a potential pathway to NCAA Division I basketball in the United States.

Tony Ronzone, Cariño’s representative from The Team, formerly known as Wasserman Sports, confirmed the offer, according to a report by Fastbreak columnist Homer Sayson.

Cariño arrived in the United States last Wednesday and made his debut with the PHH Fire Frogs at a tournament in Denver, where his performance reportedly caught the attention of several scouts.

The development marks a significant step for the young Filipino prospect as he looks to establish himself in the American basketball scene and pursue opportunities at the collegiate level.

Cariño previously made a name for himself in the UAAP juniors division while playing for the FEU-D Baby Tamaraws.

In the Season 87 junior high semifinals against the University of Santo Tomas, he recorded 21 points and 22 rebounds to help FEU-D secure an 82-75 victory and advance to the finals against National University Nazareth School.

His latest opportunity in the United States could further boost his development as he pursues his basketball ambitions overseas. (Adrian Co)
