Bedart-Ghani, Olevao keep United VC in contention


United VC booked a 25-18, 17-25, 25-22, 25-17 win against PLDT to finish the first round of the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix at the FilOil Flying V Centre on a high note.

American import Yaasmeen Bedart-Ghani and Tai Manu Olevao were simply impressive as they towed UVC to its fourth win in seven games to stay at fourth place.

Bedart-Ghani had 20 points while Olevao added 15 kills, two aces and two blocks to finish with 19 points and 10 excellent receptions for UVC, which also drew a solid performance from skipper Kalei Mau and Alohi Robins-Hardy.

Mau had 16 points laced with 12 digs and 10 receptions while Robins-Hardy submitted 25 excellent sets with seven attacks.

Imports Grace Lazard and Kendra Dahlke were the lone bright spots with 17 points apiece for PLDT, which fell to 3-3 win-loss card.
