Belgium rode on an early Thomas Meunier’s goal and a finishing strike by team captain Eden Hazard to score a 2-0 win over England in the battle for third in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in St. Petersburg Stadium in Russia.
Mieunier put the Red Devils immediately on top after just four minutes into the game.
Hazard sealed the outcome for Belgium with strike off a Kevin de Bruyne assist in the 82nd minute.
With the win, Belgium recorded its best ever finish in the World Cup.
Despite the loss, England striker Harry Kane will likely win the tournament’s Golden Boot award with 6 goals to his name.
Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann of France are the only players that still have a chance to surpass Kane.
The French dynamic duo, however, need to score four goals each in the World Cup final against Croatia to deny Kane the coveted award.
