Ben Mbala and Jeron Teng remind Arvin Tolentino of Mac Belo

Make no mistake, Arvin Tolentino is a man of his own, but his game-winning three-pointer sure reminded some familiar figures about his fellow FEU counterpart Mark Belo.

Over four years ago, Belo’s buzzer-beating triple elimimated La Salle for good.

Former La Salle powerhouse Ben Mbala saw this moment coming in the form of Tolentino.

“These types of games… Remember when I was not playing yet? Mac Belo hit the shot over [Jason] Perkins,” Mbala recalled.

He was right all along.

“I knew it was gonna be a close game at the end of regulation, and what I was expecting happened – he hit a clutch shot,” Mbala said.

The same play that FEU guard Mike Tolomia drew over Belo, Jasper Parker found an open Tolentino to beat La Salle in a do-or-die duel, 71-70, to advance in the Final Four on Wednesday.

After the game, the former “King Archer”, Jeron Teng, reminded him the exact scenario that broke his heart during his collegiate years.

“Na-Mac Belo kami,” Teng quipped.

The graduating forwaed must be savoring this moment, since this was the exact moment that he needed after being marred by controversies this Season 81.

“Nagdasal ako. Buti na lang sinagot ni Lord yung dasal ko,” Tolentino shared.
