COLLEGE of St. Benilde guard Jhomel Ancheta has drawn criticism for a controversial social media post ahead of the Blazers’ Pinoyliga game against Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles this Sunday.
Ancheta shared a promotional picture of the upcoming Blazers-Blue Eagles match, where he mentioned Our Lady of Fatima University Phoenix player Edward Labayen.
“Ipasa mo pre Edward Labayen,” Ancheta wrote.

Labayen was previously criticized online for remarks made following OLFUâs defeat to Ateneo in the Pinoyliga last Sunday.
A screenshot circulating on social media showed Labayen commenting âsana walang malunodâ in a post related to the Ateneo-OLFU matchup.
The remark drew criticism because of its perceived reference to the June 8 deaths of Ateneo student-athletes Rene Clert âBobetâ Baterbonia and Divine Adili during an off-campus team-building activity in Dipaculao, Aurora.
The Aurora incident remains a sensitive issue within the Ateneo community, with investigations continuing into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of Baterbonia and Adili.
Labayenâs earlier remarks and his subsequent exchange with Ancheta have since generated further reactions from basketball fans online. (Adrian Co)
