Bettors believe that Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is most likely to receive the NBA’s first technical foul for flopping next season, according to the BetOnline sports book.
James had +700 odds to be the betting favorite. Coming in second is Chris Paul with +800, with Draymond Green coming in third at +900.
Beginning next season, officials will slap a technical foul on every player who is guilty of flopping. According to the league, the technical foul for flopping will be non-unsportsmanlike, which means that it will not count toward an ejection. However, the opposing team of the player who flopped will be awarded one free throw.
Meanwhile, James has earned haters over the years for his flopping. It even led to some basketball fans calling him “LeFlop.”
The league began to impose penalties for flopping during the 2012–2013 season. The penalties were a warning for the first violation, $5,000 for the second, $10,000 for the third, $15,000 for the fourth, and $30,000 for the fifth. (MJD)
