Bolts restore power, ends six-game setback against NLEX

Meralco Bolts finally ended their six consecutive failed outings, defeating NLEX Road Warriors in the process, 108-105 in the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup, on Sunday at the Big Dome.

Just when NLEX thought that they have an advantage because of their 66-80 lead in the third canto, Meralco sparked a rally in the payoff period.

Baser Amer would complete their comeback when he drained six points in the final minute of the game, including a game-winning triple with 15 seconds remaining to grab the lead, 108-105.

Juami Tiongson attempted a trifecta to tie the matchup, only to be blocked by Allen Durham.

Durham powered Meralco with 36 points (16 in the final frame), 18 rebounds and seven assists. Amer led the locals’ charge with 22 points (17 in the fourth quarter).

After suffering a six-game losing skid, Meralco salvaged their playoff bid by pushing their record to 2-6.

Aaron Fuller collected 31 points and 13 rebounds, while Larry Fonacier added 21 points for NLEX.

With that loss, NLEX slipped to 4-5 win-loss slate.
