Bryan Bagunas Among Stranded OFWs Searching for Way Home

Can anybody step up to help our stranded Southeast Asian (SEA) Games Silver medalist stalwart?

While the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) pays for the hotel accommodations of most OFWs who are overstaying beyond the intended 14-day quarantine period under the Project CARE, it’s a different story for Bryan Bagunas.

Bagunas, the former NU Bulldogs star who now plays for the Oita Miyoshi Weisse Adler team in Japan V.League, shared his current situation under an unintended extended stay in a hotel room, several days after his arrival here in Manila.

In a follow up Twitter post, the 22-year-old Filipino spiker who was recently featured on the FIVB website appealed for stranded travelers saying, “Maawa naman po kayo samin. Lalo na sa iba na nastranded lang. Tapos ang laki pa ng nagastos sa rebooking ng flight”.

As the COVID-19 pandemic exposes gaping cracks in governance, Pinoys have to deal with disorganized quarantine measures imposed to contain the outbreak in the country.
