Bucks GM Jon Horst: ‘Giannis Antetokounmpo is MVP this year and deserves DPOY award’

Milwaukee Bucks general manager Jon Horst believes Giannis Antetokounmpo has what it takes to be an MVP and bag the Defensive Player of the Year award this season.

GM Horst shared his thoughts with Ben Golliver of the Washington Post saying, “Giannis is absolutely, undoubtedly, the MVP this year. When you and your team are doing it at the highest level, you deserve to be the MVP. We went from [17th] in defense last year to first because Giannis committed to it. His rebounding has skyrocketed. He deserves Defensive Player of the Year consideration too.”

The Greak Freak is having the best year for his career in Milwaukee this season as they are one of the top-contending teams in the East with a 41-13 win-loss record.

Horst also mentioned that Antetokounmpo’s leadership, commitment, improved playmaking skills and rebounds established the Bucks as the top defensive team on the league.

“You feel the pressure [to build a winner around him with free agency in 2021]. It’s an awesome responsibility to create the environment and success needed to recruit him from within. To win and to compete at the highest level.” Horst added.

The Bucks are soaring high through Antetokounmpo, and because of that it’s expected that they will be making sure he stays with them for the longest time.

Though Antetokounmpo is tallying career-high points with 27.0, 12.5 rebounds and 5.8 assists, James Harden and Paul George are still the top picks for the MVP award.
