‘Bus driver’ Jalalon gets P2 million a year PBA contract


Three-time NCAA Mythical Team member Jio Jalalon of Star Hotshots will be earning at least P2 million a year.

Jalalon inked a three-year, P7 million contract with Star this week pero a report by, which means that the former Arellano star will earn P150,000 monthly while playing with elite guards Mark Barroca, PJ Simon and Paul Lee.

Another rookie, Matthew Wright, agreed to a P8.5 million three-year max deal with the Phoenix Fuel Masters on Tuesday. He was also given a one-year extension by the management.

Wright, a Fil-Canadian guard from New York, is a former Asean Basketball League MVP who will form the Phoenix core with Cyrus Baguio, JC Intal, Willy Wilson and fellow rookie Gelo Alolino.

Jalalon and Wright are part of the 12-man Gilas training pool under comebacking national team coach Chot Reyes.
