Caloy Yulo to receive P750K special incentives for winning gold, silver medal

Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo will be receiving a total of P750,000 from the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) after bagging the gold and silver medal in the 2021 FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Kitakyushu, Japan.

The 21-year old will get a special incentive of P500,000 for his gold finish in the vault and P250,000 for his silver in the parallel bars.

However, Yulo isn’t qualified for the Republic Act 10699 or the National Athletes and Coaches Benefits and Incentives Act, wherein he was supposed to receive ₱1 million and ₱500,000, respectively for his gold and silver medal orize in world championships.

However, the law mandates that a certain international competitions must be held every two years at most for athletes to qualify for the incentives.

Yulo’s gymnastics meet has been held annually since 2019, and the supposed 2020 World Championships was rescheduled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
