CAPITAL1 Solar Spikers continued their recruitment drive for the upcoming PVL season by securing the services of former Galeries Tower captain Julia Coronel.
The team confirmed the signing on Thursday, just two days after Coronel announced her departure from the Highrisers.
Coronel gives Capital1 another experienced playmaker as the club builds a stronger lineup around Bella Belen, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 PVL Draft.
The 5-foot-9 setter was selected third overall in the league’s inaugural draft in 2024. She also brings championship experience from De La Salle University and three years with the Alas Pilipinas program.
Before leaving Galeries Tower, Coronel served as team captain and helped provide stability to the developing franchise. She will now join a Capital1 roster that already includes former Cignal standouts Vanie Gandler and Erika Santos.
Her arrival also reunites her with Jorge Souza de Brito, her former coach with Alas Pilipinas.
Coronel is expected to share setting duties with Jasmine Nabor and Jaja Maraguinot, while also linking up with Belen and Gandler—players she previously teamed up with during national team competitions. (Adrian Co)
