Carl Bryan Cruz powers injury-hit Alaska over Columbian

Carl Bryan Cruz powered the Alaska Aces in putting away the Columbian Dyip, 94-72, on Wednesday night to book its very first win in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Cruz finished with 20 points and 9 rebounds while Jake Pascual added 13 points, 13 rebounds.

Cruz and Pascual fill up the void vacated by the absence of Vic Manuel, JVee Casio, Simon Enciso, and Kevin Racal due to injuries.

The triumvirate of Cruz, Pascual, and Ping Exciminiano tallied 23 of Alaska’s 46 points in the first half.

In the third canto, it was rookie MJ Ayaay who spearheaded the Aces onslaught outscore the Dyip, 22-14.

The Aces led by as many as 30 points at one point of the game.

Exciminiano scored 12 points while Chris Banchero added 10 points for the Aces.

With the loss, Columbian dropped to 2-4 after losing its third straight game.
