Chauca, Adamson shock UST
Adamson just rose from the dead!
The Soaring Falcons’ late rally paid off against UST Growling Tigers, 78-71, in the UAAP Season 82 men’s basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena, on Wednesday September 18.
The San Marcelino-based university was almost counted out with three minutes remaining in the game, as they were trailing by as much as nine, 62-71.
But Val Chauca took over against the Growling Tigers, scoring 11 points in Adamson’s 16-0 parade to win the matchup.
“We got a big lift from Val. That’s why he’s here. He’s here to guide this young team,” Adamson head coach Franz Pumaren said.
“We needed this game to boost our confidence back.”
Jerrick Ahanmisi led Adamson with 24 points, four rebounds and three assists, while Chauca registered 18 markers, six markers, and eight dimes.
Adamson and UST now share the same record in UAAP Season 82, with 3-2 win loss record.
For UST, Soulemane Chabi Yo registered a double-double of 17 points and 15 rebounds, while CJ Cansino, Mark Nonoy, and Sherwin Concepcion were good with 10 apiece.
UST was held scoreless once again in the final three minutes of the duel — the same thing that happened just two games back against Ateneo Blue Eagles.
