Cherry Rondina thriving at Choco Mucho as team secures 2-0 record in PVL Invitational

Cherry Ann Rondina’s energy seems to be rubbing off on her Choco Mucho Flying Titans in the Premier Volleyball League Invitational.

With the former University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses star leading the way, the Flying Titans notched their second win in as many games as they walloped the Foton Tornadoes, 25-19, 25-19, 25-14, on Saturday at the FilOil EcoOil Center in San Juan City.

Rondina, who is making a return to indoor volleyball after focusing on beach volleyball since 2020, was named Player of the Game for the second straight time as she tallied 19 points on 15 attacks, three blocks, and an ace, along with six digs.

“I’m enjoying it here at Choco Mucho, but I just wanted to contribute,” said the Cebuana volleybelle. “I always tell them that we should not stop until we reach 25 (points).”

Cherry Nunag and Des Cheng backed Rondina with 12 and 10 hits, respectively, while Caitlyn Viray added seven markers and Maddie Madayag made six points for Choco Mucho.

“Sobrang masaya sa naging resulta. Lahat ng plano namin sa training, lahat nakukuha naming at tumataas ang porsiyento sa lahat ng ginagawa namin,” said Choco Mucho coach Dante Alinsunurin, Jr.

Ma. Shaya Adorador came up with 10 points, and Jaila Atiena added eight hits for the Tornadoes, which suffered their second loss in as many games after dropping a four-set setback to the Petro Gazz Angels last Thursday.
