Chot nagpaliwanag kung bakit ibinagko si Kai Sotto

Gilas Pilipinas coach Chot Reyes has an explanation for Kai Sotto’s lengthy stay on the bench during their game against the Dominican Republic.

“Kai picked up two quick fouls, so we have to get him out of the game right away,” said Reyes after Gilas faltered against the Dominican Republic, 87-81.

Fans questioned the Gilas coaching staff for the move, as Sotto, the tallest player in the nationals’ lineup, could have seen an interesting match against the Dominicans led by Karl Anthony-Towns. Sotto ended up scoreless in 73 seconds of action.

But Reyes pointed out that AJ Edu and June Mar Fajardo, Gilas two other big men, were doing well that night.

“I’m sure a lot of people are going to wonder why, but between sitting AJ and June Mar, there was just no opportunity. And the match-up just didn’t favor Kai,” said Reyes.
