Chot Reyes left puzzled by Kai Sotto’s condition

Gilas Pilipinas head coach Chot Reyes admitted that he has no idea when Kai Sotto will join the national team’s practice for the upcoming FIBA World Cup.

In a report from Hoops.ph, Reyes said that their team doctor had already checked Sotto’s lower back, which he hurt during his stint with the Orlando Magic in the NBA Summer League.

“It’s a big puzzle. It’s a really big question for us now. I think Kai has some issues with his lower back,” the multi-titled coach said. “Our team doctor, he checked him out, doesn’t seem to find any functional or structural problem.”

“Although his people say that he has an MRI and that he has to do some therapy, we’re trying to get hold of the MRI results, but up to now, we still don’t have them,” Reyes added.

Sotto has yet to join any Gilas practice since arriving in the country on July 19.

“I really don’t know when Kai will come to practice,” the national team coach added.

Despite this, Reyes is not panicking.

“We’re not worrying about it. We’re not thinking about it too much. We’re just moving forward with the players who are here,” he said. (MJD)
